Black History Excellence...

In the video shown above Morgan Freeman discusses his views ,when asked, on Black History Month in an interview held on 60 minutes in the year 1996. As "ridiculous" as Morgan Freeman declared February out to be I couldn't agree more with his keen choice of word used to describe "Black History Month" . I sat down with a young African American by the name of Romelo to discuss his views on Black History Month.

Neka : What is Black History Month?

Romelo: "It is the coldest month of the year. It is the shortest month of the year. It is the most unappreciated and manipulated scientifically and morally . In agreement to Morgan Freeman's statement where he states " how can you relevate black history into the shortest coldest month of the year. It is just a month"

Neka: Do you believe in 2018 African Americans are empowered and succeeding in excelling with their highest achievements?

Romelo:" My belief doesn't matter. Blacks always been in greater achievement i.e inventors, scholars, but what are we doing with it? "

Neka: What advice would you tell to the young 8 y/o African Americans males growing up in the school systems being taught to acknowledge Black excellence for a Black History Month especially in February mainly?

Romelo:" I would tell them to acknowledge black excellence everyday and not only in February. Acknowledge your parents, grandparents aunts and uncles excellence daily. Admire your family excellence."

Neka: If Trump decided to pass a bill that would allow Black History Month to be six months instead of one would you want the office to vote for it to be passed?

Romelo: NO. that is not a valid form of reparations to acknowledge our history--six months! The reasoning of acknowledging black history is to learn how to shape the future. To not allow history to repeat itself, to become smarter and more aware of our surroundings and who we are as social beings.
